Beckenham Fliers had the honour of helping raise awareness for Male breast cancer by helping provide equipment and facilities for a viral video starring hollywood actor Chris O’Dowa.
The film was created by the breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel! And the Male Cancer Awareness Campaign (MCAC).
O’dowd, who played Roy in Channel 4’s The IT Crowd, plays a Swedish health and safety officer called Lars Larson in the video - a man said to have the best job in the world. Kris Hellenga, founder of CoppaFeel!, said: “Male breast cancer is a subject that is still very taboo. Men are notoriously bad at getting symptoms checked out. The disease goes undiagnosed and eventually found at a stage when it can’t be cured.”Male breast cancer is rare but around 300 men and diagnosed with it in the UK.
The viral campaign now has over 4 million views on YouTube.
